About the Course
This course will provide a practical approach to the management of common medical emergencies that arise in the dental office. Participants will learn how to prepare an office with the appropriate equipment and drugs for management of medical emergencies. This review will be relevant for the entire dental team.
Educational Objectives:

Diagnose and treat the most common emergencies in the dental office.
Learn how to put together an in-office team to manage emergencies.
Become familiar with the necessary equipment and supplies for preparing a dental office for medical emergencies.
Your Instructor
Dr. Michael Pruett
Dr. Michael Pruett is a Co-Director of the Athens GPR Program at Piedmont Hospital in Athens, Georgia. He previously served as the Director of Continuing Education from the Dental College of Georgia, prior to this he served as Director of the General Practice Residency Program at The Dental College of Georgia for 21 years. He received his DMD from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry, and then completed a two-year General Practice Residency at the University of Virginia. Upon completion, he became the Director of Dentistry at Mount Sinai Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut.
Dr. Pruett has placed and restored dental implants for the last 32 years and maintains an active practice in Athens, Georgia. He is the co-director of the Augusta University / American Academy of Implant Dentistry Maxi-Course. Dr. Pruett also lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of topics. Dr. Pruett was the 2013 recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award for The Dental College of Georgia and was also the recipient of the Prestigious Hinman Medallion in 2018.
